- The Halloween Parade is on Monday, 10/31 at 1:30. 5M students will be celebrating Halloween following the School Parade. Students will get to enjoy some food and fun times with friends.
- Parents: Please sign all assessments and quizzes that are sent home. .You may check your child's vocabulary progress on SadlierConnect.
- 5M & 5C Students have been invited to participate in the Pizza Hut Book It! Program. This program encourages students to "read their hearts out"! Students who complete the monthly reading goal will receive a certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. The October Book It Reading Log is due Tuesday, November 1st!
Reading
The following topics will be covered in Reading this week:
-Continuing with our class read aloud, Wonder by RJ Palacio. Students can't wait to read this book each day!
-Using specific symbols to Mark Up the Text.
-Asking questions before, during, & after reading.
-Asking higher-level thinking questions.
-Finding the answers to our questions (Where? How?).
-Making meaningful connections while reading. (Text to Self, Text to Text, Text to World).
*Remember to read at home, at least 4 nights a week, and record your reading on your Reading Log. Also, make sure to complete 2 Reading Responses in at least 5 sentences or more.
Writing
The following topics will be covered in Writing this week:
-Revising and Editing our Personal Narratives.
-Publishing our Personal Narratives.
Word Study
The following topics will be covered in Word Study this week:
-Unit 4 Vocabulary - Assessment is on Friday, 11/4.
-Unit 4 Spelling.
-Types of Sentences (Declarative, Interrogative, Exclamatory, Imperative).
-Introduction to Nouns (People, Places, Things).
*Each student has an account with Sadlier Connect. Students have their account information in their Word Study Binder and their Planner. Most Vocabulary assignments and assessments will be completed on the Sadlier Connect website.
Science
