The Cherry Hill Concert is on Thursday, 12/18/14.
This week, students should continue practicing their typing skills on the website TypingClub. Students have been practicing in class. Please practice your typing skills at least twice a week. Remember to type by sitting with proper posture and with both hands on the home-row keys. I will be checking your progress weekly. All students must go on Spelling City at least twice a week to practice the Spelling and Vocabulary words. Parents: Please sign and return all quizzes/assessments that are sent home. Reading The following topics will be covered in Reading this week: -Reading the extended section of wonder written titled, "Julian's Chapter" by R.J. Palacio. -Completing an "Open Mind Profile" for a character we have read about. -Creating a Lucid Chart in Google for a character we have read about. -Writing personality traits to describe characters, and finding evidence in the text to support our thinking. *There will be another Character Response this week. The Reading Response is due on Friday. Remember that you must list strong Personality Traits (not Physical Traits) for the characters in the book you are reading. Also, you should write an opinion about each character. An opinion is what you think or feel about someone. Sometimes opinions can start with "I think..." or "In my opinion...". *Remember to read at home, at least 4 nights a week, and record your reading on your Reading Log. Writing The following topics will be covered in Writing this week: -Publishing our Favorite Season Personal Essays. -Beginning a new Personal Essay. Word Study The following topics will be covered in Word Study this week: -Spelling & Vocabulary List #10 -Plural Nouns (nouns that name more than one) Ex. daisies, boxes, mice Science The following topics will be covered in Science this week: -Cells Quiz is on Monday, 12/22/14. -Reviewing the 7 characteristics of all living things. -Organelle functions in a cell. -What does an animal cell look like? -What does a plant cell look like? -How are animal cells and plant cells different? -Storm Presentations.
